funeral.link is operated by Funeral Link LLC (5900 Balcones Dr, Ste 100, Austin, TX 78731) — the platform behind a small family of death-tech products, including FuneralGuestbook.app and FuneralBiography.com. This policy explains how we handle information collected through this site (funeral.link). Each product has its own privacy policy covering the information collected through that product.
When you contact us — through the contact form or the chat — we collect what you provide: your name, email, phone number, funeral home, and your message. We also collect basic, technical usage and diagnostic data needed to operate and secure the site. We do not collect sensitive personal information through this site.
We use what you send us to respond to your inquiry, to follow up with you about our products and possible partnership, to operate, improve, and secure the site, and to measure whether our advertising is working.
We advertise, so we should say plainly what that involves. This site loads the Meta (Facebook) pixel — it tells Meta that a visit or a form submission happened here, which is how we measure whether an ad we paid for actually reached a funeral home, and how Meta finds homes like yours to show it to. Our server tells Meta about a lead as well, and that message carries a scrambled (hashed) copy of your email address and phone number, along with your IP address and browser, which is how Meta matches it to an ad you were shown. You can limit that from Meta’s own ad settings, and from the tracking controls in your browser or phone. Some of our other marketing sites load the pixel too, and each says so on its own privacy page. It runs on the memorial pages on this site as well, and on the family-facing pages of our other sites, where each product’s own privacy page says so: a visit there is advertising measurement, which is how we reach more of the people this product serves. On a memorial page the pixel measures the visit and reads nothing from the page. It does not run on the iPad a guest signs or on a life story. What does not change: nothing a family or a guest writes — a signature, a message, a life story — is used to target advertising or sent to an advertising platform.
We do not sell your information. We do not share it with data brokers. Advertising measurement covers page visits on our websites and whether a purchase happened, including for families; what people write is never part of it. Each product says on its own privacy page which of its pages carry that measurement.
If you give us your mobile number and agree to receive text messages, we use that number to send the messages you agreed to: account notifications and verification codes, replies to your support requests, alerts about a service day, and occasional product updates. Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to stop, or HELP for help. Mobile phone numbers and text-message opt-in consent are never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes, and are excluded from every kind of sharing described elsewhere in this policy.
We share your information only as needed: with service providers that help us run the site (such as hosting and email delivery), each under a contract requiring them to protect it and use it only for us; where required by law or to protect rights and safety; and, if the business is ever transferred, subject to this policy.
We keep your inquiry for as long as needed to respond and to maintain reasonable business records, and then we delete or de-identify it. You can ask us to delete it sooner.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and to opt out of any sale or sharing. To make a request, email privacy@funeral.link and we'll respond within the time applicable law requires.
We use appropriate technical and organizational safeguards and limit access to what's needed to run the site. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable care and will notify you and the authorities of an incident as the law requires.
This site is intended for funeral professionals and other adults. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect children's information here.
Information collected through our products — for example, guest contact details captured by FuneralGuestbook.app — is governed by that product's own privacy policy, not this one. This policy covers only the funeral.link site.
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected here, and the “last updated” date below will change.
